(More customer reviews)Normally, Amazon does a good job packaging their products. But this job was the pits! Instead on shipping it in a tube or triangular box, it was laid on a long piece of cardboard, with the corrugations running at right angles to the rod. The ends were folded over and glued down, resulting in a flat package with almost no support. Because of this idiotic packaging, it arrived broken. I sent it back for a replacement, but I would advise anyone wanting to buy this item to do so from a local store.

I received my replacement within a week. Amazingly, it was not broken because it was packaged exactly the same as the first one! Rod and reel work just fine.
